5 Easy Mocktail Recipes for Summer

When it’s a warm sunny day and you need a thirst-quenching drink, an iced coffee, soda, or La Croix just isn’t enough.

Mocktails can offer up the same refreshing decadence of a cocktail without the booze, which is especially handy if you’re pregnant, the designated driver, or just aren’t much of a drinker.

Here are 5 easy mocktail recipes to make this summer:

    1. Non-Alcoholic Sangria

What screams “summer” more than sharing a pitcher of sangria with friends? Bintu from Recipes From a Pantry shared her take on the classic drink, swapping out wine for grape juice and sparkling water, transforming it into a delicious family-friendly option.

The beauty of sangria is its adaptability; whether you’re mixing up the wine base, liquors, or fruits, there are a million and one ways you can make it your own. In that spirit, Bintu also shared a number of substitutes you can make to switch up the flavour profile of her alcohol-free version.

    2. Non-Alcoholic Moscow Mule

Fizzy and gingery, this virgin Moscow mule recipe kicks vodka out of the equation but keeps the tangy taste you love. In this recipe from Like Mother Like Daughter, ginger beer is the hero of the drink, while mint leaves, lime, and simple syrup (a sugar and water mixture) add earthiness, citrus, and sweetness to the mix.

    3.Earl Grey Tea & Tonic

This black tea mocktail gives you a dose of caffeine and is the perfect mid-day pick-me-up! The key to this drink is to steep your tea bags in simple syrup to create a tea-infused syrup. It’s a lot easier than you think, and you can substitute Earl Grey for a fruity or floral tea, depending on your tastes.

    4. Spicy Manila Mango Mocktail

Want to kick your drink up a notch? This spicy mocktail from Adriana’s Best Recipes is an agua fresca that features mango and lemon and is garnished with the Mexican condiment chamoy. This drink will hit the sweet-and-savoury spot, with additional tartness from the Manila mangoes.

    5. Margarita Mocktail

Let’s close it out with a classic: the margarita. While tequila usually packs the punch in this drink, Liz on Call’s version uses limeade to bring that mouth-puckering taste. Make it as a party punch and don’t forget the finishing touch on the glasses: a sugary, salty rim!
