While we never need a reason to honour the past, present, and future accomplishments of women, we love that everyone can come together on IWD to celebrate together. So in honour of IWD, we’re highlighting a selection of amazing female authors and their newest book releases!

  1. Supper Club by Lara Williams

“If you feed a starving woman, what will she grow into?”

That’s the premise for Lara Williams’ much-anticipated novel, Supper Club, on sale July 9th, 2019. Hailing from Manchester, England, you may have already read Williams’ work in A Selfie as Big as the Ritz, but her latest novel is captivating in its own right. The story follows Roberta, a nearly-30-something woman who invents the rebellious Supper Club for women to feed themselves and reclaim their space in the world.   1. On the Come Up by Angie Thomas

Just released in February, this novel by Mississippi local Angie Thomas comes hot on the heels of her award-winning debut, The Hate U Give. On The Come Up tells the story of sixteen-year-old Bri, who is determined to become the next hip hop legend. But she soon finds herself engulfed in controversy and must fight even harder for her dream. Thomas draws from aspects of her own life for this novel, as she was also a teen rapper and has set both her novels in the same town, which is based on her childhood neighbourhood.

  1. I’ll Never Tell by Catherine McKenzie

Need some more psychological suspense in your life? Born-and-raised Montrealer Catherine McKenzie has just the thing with her upcoming novel, I’ll Never Tell. On June 4th, 2019, you’ll be able to get your hands on a copy of this family drama that unfolds when siblings of a murdered girl reunite 20 years after her unsolved death.

  1. The Last Resort by Marissa Stapley

From Globe and Mail bestselling author and journalist Marissa Stapley comes The Last Resort. Robyn Harding is a Vancouver-based author, screenwriter, and producer who you may know from her national bestseller Her Pretty Face–or perhaps from her independent film The Steps, which debuted at TIFF. One thing’s for sure, you don’t want to miss out on what she has coming up next: The Arrangement. Coming out August 20th, 2019, this novel centres on the relationship between a sugar baby and her sugar daddy–and the deadly turn it takes.
