The Path Made Clear by Oprah Winfrey (208 pages)

I love the month of September. Even though it’s been years since I started a new school year, I can still feel the energy of excitement, anticipation, and learning new things. If you’re dedicated to lifelong learning, not attending school doesn’t mean the learning has to stop…thanks to books! And depending on which ones you choose, the lessons you’ll learn have the potential to change your life.

When it comes to personal development, Oprah Winfrey is one of the masters of the genre. Aside from being a media executive, actress, talk show host, television producer, and philanthropist, she believes her ultimate calling is that of teacher, as she proclaims in The Path Made Clear (her latest foray into publishing). In this book, she shares words of wisdom and life lessons from renowned figures, including Marianne Williamson, Jon Kabat-Zinn, Eckhart Tolle, Brené Brown, and Lin-Manuel Miranda.

The book’s ten chapters are organized to help readers recognize the important milestones along the road to self-discovery (with chapters such as The Seeds, The Map, and The Reward), laying out what you really need in order to achieve personal contentment, and what life’s detours are there to teach us.

Oprah opens each chapter by sharing her own key lessons and the personal stories that helped set the course for living her best life. She then brings together wisdom and insight from luminaries in a wide array of fields, inspiring readers to consider what they’re meant to do in the world and how to pursue it with passion and focus.

It’s a path you’ll want to walk down again and again.

The Bottom Line: 4.5/5 Brookie Stars
The Path Made Clear is beautifully produced – paper overboard, it’s filled with gorgeous photographs that enhance the wisdom of its messages. In addition to life-enhancing advice you’ll want to revisit, it’s a beautiful resource to help you achieve a well-lived life with authenticity as its guiding light.
