Our Community Member Series: Meet Lina

Community is more important than ever as we continue to figure out how to not just survive, but thrive together.

Many of us are craving deeper bonds of friendship and togetherness with like-minded souls. So, to help keep our connection to books and people alive, we’re turning the spotlight on real-life Brookies once again some of the amazing people who form the backbone of our community. You may see them hosting virtual book club events or  popping into our virtual weekly Thursday 6:30 pm pulse check-ins. Check out our previous interview with Vanessa and Caitlin

Read on for a peek into their interests, views on self-care, and of course, books!

Continuing With Part Five of our Series, Meet Brookie and Host Lina!

She holds an MBA and BBA and has over 15 years of business and marketing experience, specializing in digital marketing. 1. What drew you to BooknBrunch?

I recall working with founder Zuzana on BooknBrunch while it was an idea gestating. We would sit in her car and discuss it endlessly, then we worked together on the initial business concept and idea. It was a fantastic and very rewarding experience.

  1. If you could pick one author to share a meal with, who would it be and where would you go?

Very difficult to select just one author! Here are my top three:

Naguib Mahfouz in Old City Cairo

Aristophanes in ancient Athens

Margaret Atwood in downtown Toronto

  1. What’s your desert-island book pick which book can you read and re-read over and over?

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. Every time I re-read it I think, feel, and see something new.

  1. Do you have a self-care routine? What does it look like?

Yes, I brush my teeth first thing in the morning. Then I write in my 5-Minute Journal, which was given to me as a gift by Zuzana several years ago. I also try to never go to bed without having removed my makeup; it’s like taking off the day and allowing and enabling my mind, skin, and body to start fresh in dreamland!

  1. What is your favourite BooknBrunch event that you’ve attended? What made it special?

It was mine, July 15, 2017, in downtown Toronto on a beautiful patio. One of the Brookies opened up her home, and  marvellous patio. We had a blast!

You can catch Lina on Instagram @marketing_consultant_lina and keep an eye on our Events page for her upcoming virtual brunches. Also, be sure to check out parts one, twothree, four, and five of our Community Member Series.
